Admonish, don’t punish.
As believers in Christ, we are called to admonish one another. This means "to train by word” through reproof, encouragement, or protest (as opposed to grumbling). And we are to do so gently, speaking the truth through love. How much more should this approach be toward our own children? Admonishment is greater than punishment.
